LOCATION
On the east coast of Queensland some 300 kilometres north of Brisbane you will find Fraser Island being the largest sand island in the World. For over a million years sand has been deposited and migrates north from the rivers of northern New South Wales. You will find magnificent rainforests with trunks nearly three metres thick that reach 50 metres in height.
Crystal clear and tea coloured freshwater lakes lie perched above sea level, majestic sand dunes, spectacular sand blows along with crystal running creeks. Fraser Island contains one of Australiaβs few βlakelandβ landscapes with about 40 freshwater lakes including the largest known perched lakes in the world Lake Boomanjin and Lake Boomerang. In the late 70βs we saw the end of Sand Mining and Logging on the Island.
